Camp Dodge: Home Away From Home 1917-1918

Following the U.S. entry into World War I Camp Dodge, Iowa, was selected as one of 16 training camps for draftee soldiers. From September 1917 – November 1918, thousands of Iowa draftees left cities, towns and farms to become soldiers. Join historian Michael Vogt as he shares images, maps, letters, and data to add details the story of how for many Iowans Camp Dodge became their “Home Away from Home.”
