Here at Dubuque County Library District, we take pride in providing more than just books to our patrons. Our district offers a variety of services. Here’s all you need to know about what we can do for you.
If you are a resident of unincorporated Dubuque County or live in the cities of Asbury, Epworth, Farley, Holy Cross, or Peosta, you are eligible for a library card. An application must be filled out at any of our five branches. You will need to bring a photo ID with current residence or a document with current address.
Residents of other Iowa communities may check out materials using a valid public library card through the State Library’s Open Access Program.
We have public computers and laptops available for use. These all feature Internet service and Microsoft Office Suite 2013. You are able to print from any of our public computers. The cost is $0.10 per side for black & white or $0.25 per side for color.
Each branch has a photocopier, scanner, and fax service available to the public. The cost for copies is $0.10 per side for black & white or $0.25 per side for color. Scanning a document is free. Faxing is $0.10 per page to send and receive.
The Dubuque County Library District is dedicated to making sure local students have full access to all the resources we offer. Through the Public Library Student Access Program, middle and high school students in the Dubuque Community School District can use their student ID as a library card.
If DCLD doesn’t own an item, we can try and get it for you from another library via interlibrary loan. Please see staff at any branch or log in to your account to initiate an interlibrary loan request.

Bring unbroken compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs to any Dubuque County Library branch for recycling. Just place them in a sealed Ziplock bag. Note that we cannot accept long tubular bulbs.
We offer notary services at the Asbury branch. Please call to inquire about availability.
1,000 Books before Kindergarten is a self-paced early literacy program that encourages parents to read 1,000 books with their children before they start kindergarten. By reading one book each day together, your child will have read 365 books. If you read three books a day for one year, you will have read 1,095 books!
